Reputed financial services firm improves their Security Monitoring with Allied Digital’s 24x7 Information Security surveillance

The Challenge
A reputed financial services firm and a client of Allied Digital (ADSL) has over 1000 users spread across India. Users are serviced through an elaborate IT infrastructure ser comprising primary and disaster recovery (DR),tier 1 locations with leased line connectivity, Tier-2 locations with internet IPSEC VPN connectivity, and tier-3 locations with Broadband IPSEC VPN connectivity. Their corporate office is located in Mumbai and is supported by a local DR center.. Their IT setup hosted multiple applications including, MS Exchange mail messaging solution, Blackberry enterprise services, and financial applications . Since the IT operations di not run 24X7, the company did not have complete insight into network activity. The company needed round the clock monitoring and regular reporting of their IT security .

The company chose ADSL, on the strength of their information security services, to provide 24x7 Information Security Surveillance Service

Our Approach
ADSL’s network and security consultants conducted a detailed study of the company’s network and security infrastructure and suggested the proper topology for securing their identity and maintaining high level of confidentiality, integrity and availability for information assets . ADSL’s team performed a Vulnerability Assessment on the company’s perimeter security devices and rectified the policy vulnerabilities and configuration errors. The team recommended a perimeter security strategy from two tier perimeter security design in place of the existing single tier design. ADSL identified business critical segments and deployed best ine class intrusion prevention systems (IPS) to obtain a deep insight into packet payloads flowing in and out of these critical systems. Logs from Perimeter Security devices and the IPS were forwarded to the Event Manager for event correlation between various security devices.

ADSL deployed e-Cop Event Manager (a component of ADSL’s Security Operating Center - SOC ) in the Primary and Disaster Recovery Centers to capture the security events real time from security devices deployed at strategic locations. The normalized security events were sent to ADSL’s SOC where ADSL security analysts monitored the events, in real-time 24x7.

ADSL also suggested web content filtering, email security, Asset Management and endpoint security to provide additional layers of defense for end user computing. Allied Digital carried out the integration with minimum disruption to the users in corporate office. After successful completion of this engagement, the company entered into a long term service contract with Allied Digital to support their mission critical corporate network at all locations across India.

Results
The company has seen significant improvements in their network security after opting for 24x7 Information Security Surveillance Service. Early Detection and Remediation is also achieved reducing the risk in intrusion attempt during non monitored hour. Company appreciated the solution and services provided by Allied Digital & engaged ADSL for all India level Infrastructure management services.
